John H. Buhrmaster named President of 1st National Bank of Scotia


SCOTIA (July 19, 2005) - 1st National Bank of Scotia proudly announces the promotion of John H. Buhrmaster to President. The promotion fills the vacancy created by former President Louis H. Buhrmaster's election to Chairman of the Board.

A native of Scotia, NY, Mr. Buhrmaster graduated from Syracuse University in 1986 with a degree in Management Information Systems and Marketing.

Mr. Buhrmaster has been a member of the 1st National Bank of Scotia team since 1986, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Lending and Technology. Throughout his tenure at the bank Mr. Buhrmaster has occupied a wide variety of positions at many levels ranging from Teller to Sr. Vice President. This variety has allowed Mr. Buhrmaster to gain a complete understanding of every facet of 1st National Bank of Scotia, making him the ideal candidate for this position.

Aside from his duties with 1st National Bank of Scotia, Mr. Buhrmaster is actively involved in various regional and national banking associations and committees. He is currently a member of the Independent Community Bankers Association Payments and Technology Committee as well as the Association's Federal Reserve Services Work Group.

Continuing the 1st National Bank of Scotia tradition of steadfast community service, Mr. Buhrmaster is involved in a number of community organizations, including the Scotia Rotary Club, The Schenectady Employment Training Development Corporation, and the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation. Much of his work supports women and minority-owned small businesses in the Capital Region.

He is a longtime High School Track Official and currently serves as the Treasurer of the Capital District Track Officials Association. Mr. Buhrmaster was a member of the Syracuse University Track & Field team as an undergraduate.
