Louis H. Buhrmaster elected Chairman of the Board of 1st National Bank of Scotia


SCOTIA (July 19, 2005) - 1st National Bank of Scotia announces the election of Louis H. Buhrmaster to Chairman of the Board, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Kenneth E. Buhrmaster. A board member since 1965, Mr. Buhrmaster was appointed President of the bank in 1969.

With 40 years of experience on the Board of Directors and 36 as President, Mr. Buhrmaster understands the challenges of his new position and will continue to support the bank's tradition of excellent customer service. During his presidency, 1st National Bank of Scotia experienced tremendous growth and expansion while remaining true to the local communities that support the bank.

A native of Scotia, Mr. Buhrmaster graduated from Syracuse University in 1961 with a degree in Finance. While at Syracuse Mr. Buhrmaster was elected President of the Men's Student Government and Commander of the Crew. Over the years Mr. Buhrmaster has generously given of himself to assist in various economic development efforts. He is currently Vice President of the Schenectady Industrial Corporation and Treasurer for the Schenectady Glenville Empire Zone Administration Board.

Mr. Buhrmaster also remains committed to the well being of local citizens through his work as the Director of the Scotia Relief Association and Treasurer of the Scotia Business Improvement District. He has been a member of the Scotia Rotary since 1964 and served as President in 1986. Mr. Buhrmaster was also a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners from 1966 to 1991, serving as Chairman from 1976 to 1991.

Continuing the 1st National Bank of Scotia tradition of steadfast community service, Mr. Buhrmaster is involved in a number of community organizations, including the Scotia Rotary Club, The Schenectady Employment Training Development Corporation, and the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation. Much of his work supports women and minority-owned small businesses in the Capital Region.
